i have a Toshiba Satilite L45-S7423. i just got back from Oregon 2 weeks ago, and started using it (after not using it for a week). It was working fine for the next week and a half until last night when it wouldn't let me click anywhere, so i had to shut down by holding the power button down for a few seconds. then after i turned it on, it showed a black and white screen that had two options:

Start the "Start-Up Repair"

or

Start-Up Normally

i tried starting up normally, then it took me back to the same page. so this time, i clicked on "start-up repair". the scan took about 45 minutes. and then when it was finished, it went BACK to the same menu that i was at before as if nothing had changed. so, i did the scan a few more times (like, 5 or 6) and had absolutely no results. i really need my computer to work again, so if you know anything or have any suggestions that might help, PLEASE let me know.

thank you

  1. It sounds like part of your file system is corrupted.  Try running checkdisk from the Vista DVD.  You can find instructions here:  http://helpdesk.wisc.edu/page.php?id=656...
