Toshiba SD4000 DVD

Question

I've had the signal working so the actual hookup is probably right, I mean with the red white yellow connections, but I can't remember how to get the TV set to use the signal. The store guy said use remote and press aux several times and it will look for the new device and get going. But that didn't happen
