Toss-Up: Who would be affected more by the Women's Gymnastics fallout; the United States or China?

So there's an official "investigation" by the IOC now into the ages of 5 of 6 members of the Chinese women's gymnastics team. If they are found to be disqualified, then there will be major shakeups in the medal distribution. If this happens, who will this affect more? Will it hurt the Chinese public image that they "cheated" by having underage competitors and that they got gold but now have to give them up? Or will it hurt the United States, who pretty much got shown up by little kids and that their only opportunity at moving up to gold would be due to disqualification?

If this comes out which I dont think it will even though I do think the chinese gymnasts where underage China will look like the big phoney and cheat..   Fair is Fair lets play by the rules.

Too bad the U.S. could bring out their "little kids" too since everyone knows but you younger is better in gymnastics.

Heck, I bet most of the gymnasts teams around the world had younger gymnast that could have done better, but we will never get to find out.

Foreigners whine and cry about the U.S. bringing up the China gymnasts and yet they are the ones dong all of the crying.

I think IOC gymnastics is affected the most.  Everyone can now see how stupid the 14-year old age limit is.  The change was made to mainly protect 14 and 15 year olds from the game, but if they're the best gymnasts in the world, why wouldn't they compete in the Olympic Games?  It's not like doping or having 21-year olds play in the Little League World Series.

Don't get me wrong, if China is cheating, they are breaking the rules this time around, and don't deserve the medals.  But the rule itself is just stupid in the first place and should be thrown out.  If we are missing the best gymnasts in the world, in the Olympics of all competitions, clearly something is wrong.

Jesus. When will people learn? The reason why there is an age rule is because younger children have more advantage but it is not good for forming bones age. That is why other countries try to use underage gymnasts. It is only natural that they would be better since they are more flexible and has smaller bodies, therefore easier to do tricks. Why would it hurt US?

It would hurt China more cause it will give them the reputation of cheating. They will get stripped of medals, individuals and teams plus they might even get banned from competing in the future.

By the way, the case is not closed yet. It just says that so far, there is no evidence yet. Because all the documents they have so far are the current passports. No deep investigation yet.
