Question:

Toss in the towel for Tiger?

With Tiger Woods being damaged goods now, do you agree that he should walk away (errr, limp away ...) from the sport of golf? On a related note, just why do so many pro athletes continue to play with injuries or attempt "comebacks" when they should be retiring?

  1. Make sure your bats nice and sharp

  2. somewhere between EGO and COMPETITIVENESS keeps them coming back - and Tiger will be back

  3. No he just needs some surgery (and with the money he has he will hire the best one in the world) and he will be back to kick butt next year.

  4. Tiger Woods was still good enough to win the US Open despite a ruptured left ACL, stress fractures in his left tibia AND despite not really playing for at least 6 weeks prior to the tournament.  Imagine what he'd have done if he was healthy and practiced before the tournament?!

I'm pretty sure that when Tiger comes back with an actual functioning ACL in his knee and a non-broken left leg he's still going to be good enough to win major tournaments for the next ~5+ years, so as a golf fan I sure hope he doesn't hang em up!

  5. This isn't the end for Tiger. If he proved anything last weekend, it was that he is a fighter and he can perservere through pretty much anything.

We haven't seen the last of Tiger. He'll be back and hitting 320 yard drives in no time.

  6. They become pros as they love the game and have talents for it.  Even with injuries if they can repair it and feel that they still have a competitive edge they will surely return to the game.

Tiger will definitely return to the golf.  He still has a goal post to go after.

And why should Tiger be retiring?  He's 32 not 52 for pete's sake.

  7. tiger is just in his prime.  people get injured every day at work and heal and go back.

  8. huh? even with a bad knee he won the US Open. just think how much better he will be with 2 good knees? wow. remember the last time he had to have surgery? he came back and won in his first tournament. Tiger is one of those types of players who feed on adversity. he's only 33 years old. Jack Nicklaus won his last title at 45 or 46. So realistically Tiger still has more than 10 years left of competitive golf left. It's too early to talk about retiring. Why do players comeback? Love of the game. Not the money or the endorsements. They love being on the field, the ice or the court. It's their life and not just their livelihood. Thats what separates them from us losers who sit in front the computer asking dumb *** questions.
