  1. There will be an annular eclipse on May 20, 2012 that will last for 5:46 min that will be able to see from houston. Visible from Pacific, Eastern Asia, North America, Hawaii, totality across southern China, Hong Kong, Macau, Kyūshū, Shikoku, southern Honshu, Tokyo, Oregon, Nevada, Utah, Arizona, New Mexico.

There will be a partial on October 23, 2014. Visible from Northern Pacific, North America, Mexico, eastern Russia.

There will be a total one on August 21, 2017 that will be able to see from the whole US. Visible from North America, Hawaii, Greenland, Iceland, British Isles, Portugal, Central America, Caribbean, Northern South America, Chukchi Peninsula, totality across Oregon, Idaho, Wyoming, Nebraska, northeastern Kansas, Missouri, southern Illinois, western Kentucky, Tennessee, southwestern North Carolina, northeastern Georgia, South Carolina. Solar eclipse of August 21, 2017; first total eclipse visible from the contiguous United States since 1979.

  2. The next total solar eclipse visible at all in North America is August 21, 2017...it runs right through the center of the U.S.

After that, you have October 14, 2023, although that one will be an annular where the moon is smaller than the sun and not block it out...That one will be visible from Texas nicely.

Then there is April 8, 2024...a true total solar eclipse that also runs nicely through Texas.

  3. 2017 is the next time for totality in the USA.  Here is a website and a map of the totality areas.
