I need some help with finding information about it....where could I find information, or what kind of information should I look for, I can't think of anything. I tried searching google high and unfortunately, I can't find anything. I found some information, but none. I would like to find a few prison stories or some other evidence on how people are feeling about these institutions, and just general effectiveness of these institutions. Thank you!

  1. . 'Effective'? How about a return rate of inmates at 60%?

    It's called 'recidivism'.

"...on any given day more than 2 million people are incarcerated in the United States, and that over the course of a year, 13.5 million spend time in prison or jail. African Americans are imprisoned at a rate roughly seven times higher than whites, and Hispanics at a rate three times higher than whites. Within three years of their release, 67% of former prisoners are rearrested and 52% are re-incarcerated, a recidivism rate ..."

... As for finding stories about, or by, inmates, they're usually the exception. NO validity there.

Jails do NOT work because usually the poor, uneducated people go there. And that's the way they come out.
