Total Knee Replacement Surgery in Bangkok?

Question

The old parts are wearing out and sooner then later I will need a new Knee. Any one here have Knee Replacement Surgery in Bangkok if so what hospital would you recommend and doctor. Price is not a problem since Uncle Sam will be paying the largest part of the bill.

Well I am not a doctor but I have a bad knee too. Something I tried and got fairly good results is taking a quality calcium product. I am not kidding you but depending on just how serious your knee is but you could put off surgery and the pain of a bad knee either until you can have surgery in your home country or indefinately.  I don't know any places in Bangkok to buy calcium but it sure is worth the look around. Take 1,000 mg per day. Pain will go away in 2-3 weeks and partial recovery in 3-5 weeks. Maybe you won't need surgery.

If price is not a problem,  I would recommend Apollo Hospital in New Delhi, India, In fact, it might be cheaper or same cost as in Bangkok including the price of air fare. Dr Yatinder Kharbanda of this hospital has successfully replaced more than 900 knees in the last 5 years.

I have personal experirence because I got the knee replacement of my friend's daughter done here in  Feb 2006. She is from Chile.  Total cost came to Rs 250,000 that is about US $ 6000.

They are American run and US certified.

If that doesn't do it for you you can get info for Yanhee Piyavate and Bangkok Hospital.  I would recommend Yanhee as we have received service there.  The other two I can't say.  Be careful at Yanhee Bob, so you don't accidentally get a SRS.
