Total loser or total genius?

He quit a very well paying job to start his own company. Now he is five years into it, underpaid, wife left him over it and the company is on the verge of taking off. Partners are infighting and money is not accounted for in the general account. I drink with this guy, I don't know if he should bail or keep on going.

He obviously thinks that this company was worth all the troubles he put himself and others in.  If it's truly on the verge of taking off, and this is something that he wants to keep doing, then he should.  There is a lot of risk involved in business, but only if you're willing to take the risk can it pay off in the end.  Without any other knowledge of what the company is, what your friend's personality is like, I would say go for it and keep on plugging away for that big payoff down the road.
