Toto Wolff insists Williams’ full potential is yet to be seen – Formula 1 news
Williams’ executive director, Toto Wolff has said that they have not shown their full potential in the 2012 Formula 1 season so far and hope to see further improvements in the forthcoming races.
Wolff said that they have got a very competitive car and they have the made some substantial developments since the last summer. Moreover, he said that they are not sure that whether they have explored the full potential of their car until now.
In addition, he said that their car have got the capabilities to achieve more and can help their pair of drivers, Pastor Maldonado and Bruno Senna to score more points in the approaching races.
“The car is very good this year,” Wolff told Germany’s Motorline.cc. “Many of our guys started developing it last summer. Has it performed better than expected? We still don’t really know because we have had our ups and downs. Is it a front-running car?
Maybe it’s still too early to say. But can our drivers become top drivers? I think so, but only time will tell.”
The Grove based team is currently standing at 7th place in the constructors’ championship with 53 points. Besides, they are ahead of Force India and are behind their main rival, Sauber.
Meanwhile, their driver, Senna is at 15th place in the drivers’ rankings with 24 points. Additionally, he is ahead of Nico Hulkenberg of Force India and is behind Felipe Massa of Ferrari.
On the other hand, Maldonado is at 11th position in the drivers’ championship with 29 points along with the record championship holder, Michael Schumacher of Mercedes. Furthermore, he is ahead of Paul di Resta of Force India and is behind Kamui
Kobayashi of Sauber.
It is to be noted that although Maldonado scored his maiden victory in the Spanish GP and became the first even Venezuelan driver to win a race in F1. However, he has not been able to score even a single point afterwards.
Over and above, even though the British team has faced difficulties in the preceding few races, nonetheless, they are confidently looking forward to show up stronger in the upcoming season.
