Toto Wolff says Williams can aim championship titles from 2014 – Formula 1 news
Williams’ executive director, Toto Wolff has said that they are making preparations to aim championship titles from 2014 when there will be some big changes in the rules and regulations.
Wolff said that they have successfully made some essential step ups in their car which will surely help in improving its pace in the forthcoming races. Moreover, he said that they are positively looking forward to continue their development process in the
season ahead so as to make their mark stronger in this year’s championship.
“The team has made a big step forward with the engine and with the new people coming on board - these new people have been barely there for one year - so the structure is starting to work perfectly,” Wolff said. “We're going to continue to hire aggressively
and it's a matter of time to take the team forward.”
In addition, he said that they are targeting to take full advantage of the huge changes in the rules in 2014 which will help them to emerge as one of the most competitive contenders in the field once again.
“I think 2014 is going to be a big change in the rules and a big change in the regulations. I think we're all gearing up for 2014 to have a very competitive package and be one of the top teams,” he added.
Besides, when he was asked that whether they will be able to claim the title, he said that they are quite optimistic and are looking forward to win the championship titles in the future.
It will be important to note that the Grove based team has not finalised its driver line-up for next season. Meanwhile, Wolff said that they may replace any one of their drivers, Pastor Maldonado or Bruno Senna with their current test driver, Valtteri Bottas
who has performed amazingly well in the Young Driver Test held at Silverstone this year.
Over and above, he said that they are feeling quite optimistic about the remaining grands prix of the current season and are striving to secure a reasonable position in this year’s constructors’ championship.
