Toto Wolff says he has full faith in Valtteri Bottas – Formula 1 news
Williams’ executive director, Toto Wolff has said that he has full faith in Valtteri Bottas who is going to be their race driver in the 2013 Formula 1 season.
The British team has recently made an announcement regarding its next year’s driver line-up in which Bruno Senna has been replaced with Bottas.
The Finn has been the reserve driver of the Grove based team for the last three years. Moreover, he has shown incredible pace during this year’s Young Driver Test and has also replaced Senna in many free practice sessions during the season.
It will be important to note that Wolff has always shown great support for the Finnish driver and has praised his performance throughout the season. He has said that although the 23-year-old will be under massive pressure in the next season as he is going to have competition with one of the finest drivers in the sport, but insisted that he has the potential to come up stronger against any rival.
“First of all [when you] come in to F1 you have to cope with pressure, and I think Valtteri is capable of coping with that,” Wolff told Autosport. “It is his rookie season, but it is not the case that everything is allowed - he is pretty aware of that. He is a relaxed driver, always was, so it won't affect him a lot.”
In addition, he said that they are helping Bottas to make the essential preparations for the next year so that he may attain competitive results for the team.
“As for the team, we are pretty well aware Valtteri will have his rookie season next year, but for us he plays an important role because everyone knows him, he has been an investment of the team,” he added.
Besides, the team owner, Sir Frank Williams has also expressed confidence in their driver line-up and insisted that they must make the significant advancement to achieve more in the coming season.
The Grove based team has impressed everyone with its developments in this season and it will be interesting to see how Pastor Maldonado and his new teammate perform in the next year.
