The impressive Rutten, who was an un-seeded player in Men’s Singles main draw of the tournament, was at his best while playing in the final encounter and remained successful in beating the eighth seeded Peter in 42 minutes.
Rutten was on a different level as he played with impressive speed and managed to end up the battle in hard-fought three games with a dominating margin on the board.
On the other hand, the higher ranked Peter tried his best to play positive badminton but he failed to live up to expectations as he could not dominate the pace of rallies and eventually lost the battle in rubber games.
Rutten performed extremely well from the opening rallies of first set as he played with spectacular speed and grabbed the control of the game.
The in-form Rutten did not show any confusion as he remained in complete control of rallies until the end of first part.
After the mid-game interval, Rutten was focused in the arena and remained successful in keeping a reasonable lead.
Rutten remained consistent in hitting powerful shots in targeted areas and eventually took the first game with a superb total of 21-16.
However, it was a different situation in the second game when the higher ranked Peter displayed his lofty skills and stayed in complete command until the one-minute break.
After the interval, Rutten increased his speed to take the bird early but failed to play positive badminton and eventually lost the second set with a one-sided 7-21 score on the board.
In the deciding set, the in-form Rutten became aggressive as he increased his speed and remained successful in setting up a wonderful lead until the end of opening half.
After the break, the planned and positive play of Rutten assisted him in controlling the pace of rallies and he ended up the final set with a comfortable margin of 21-14.
