Tottenham Hotspur hosted Liverpool at White Hart Lane last night in the Premier League and managed a 2-1 victory over the Merseyside outfit. Despite being the lesser team, Tottenham were able to see the game out as Liverpool spurned a number of chances to
salvage something out of the game.
Gareth Bale was the star of the game as he assisted and scored a goal. The Welshman is quickly becoming a sought after commodity, with the likes of Real Madrid strongly linked with a move for him next season.
Spurs managed to concede a goal through a bit of misfortune as a goal-line clearance smacked Bale on the face and went in goal, much to the helplessness of Hugo Lloris and Aaron Lennon.

The French shot-stopper had a tremendous game as he made his fourth Premier League start. The keeper has finally begun to start more games for Tottenham, and looks set to replace http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Brad-Friedel-c7953 as the club’s No.1. Lloris made a couple of good early saves from
Luis Suarez, but had nervy moments as http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Liverpool-c39809 pushed for an equalizer.

The Belgian continues to deputize for the injured Benoit Assou-Ekotto and looks ever comfortable at left-back. Vertonghen had a calm and composed game, won most of his aerial duels but often struggled with Sterling’s pace and trickery.

The Frenchman has experienced a dip in form lately, and looked uncomfortable and shaky at the back. He has lucky to have http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Michael-Dawson-c25288 to cover for him. Gallas also almost conceded a penalty, and never looked inspired or assured.
Michael Dawson – 7
The English centre-back looked livelier of the two centre-halves, and had a decent game. He did however struggle with the pace of Suarez and Sterling, and often gave away the ball needlessly.

Walker had another solid game as he makes a recovery from his patchy form earlier this month. The right-back was full of energy and purpose, and was excellent at both ends of the pitch. He helped Lennon up front and was able to contain the Liverpool attack
with ease.
Clint Dempsey – 8
The American international won the free kick which led to Tottenham’s second goal, and played with purpose and drive. He has started to settle in at White Hart Lane, and continues to vindicate Villas-Boas’ last minute move for him in the summer transfer
window.

The winger had a lively game, and scored the first goal for Tottenham as he lost Downing and tapped in Bale’s excellent low cross. He wasn’t involved as much as he would have liked to be, but put in a decent performance nonetheless.

The Welshman was the star of the night and put in a trademark performance. He made an excellent solo effort to provide Lennon for Tottenham’s first and scored the second goal through a very Ronaldo-esque free-kick. He faded in the second half, but only slightly
and was unlucky to score an own goal which gave Liverpool a consolation.
Moussa Dembele – 7
The Belgian midfielder did not play up to his usual brilliant standards, but was involved in some decent midfield action with Sandro. He was fortunate not to have conceded a penalty as he bundled Gerrard over in the box, and his passing was a bit off. However,
he helped his team by winning the ball back and worked tirelessly.
Sandro – 8
The Brazilian continues to put in solid holding midfield performances and was once again industrious and effective.

It was a quiet game by the English striker, who looked tired and withdrawn. Perhaps a week’s rest and Adebayor’s return will do him good.
