Tottenham Hotspur Harry Redknapp reveals http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Arsenal-c38429’s visit on Sunday
While http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/William-Gallas-c36874 will not be featuring for Tottenham Hotspur in the clash against Arsenal over the weekend, Emmanuel Adebayor is expected to start against his former side. Arsenal are scheduled to travel to White Hart Lane on Sunday to face Tottenham
Hotspur in the London derby.
The 27-year-old http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Togo-c3022 international was the first-choice striker at the Emirates Stadium before he left for Manchester City in the summer of 2009. However, he failed to establish himself at the Manchester club and was loaned out to Real Madrid at the latter
half of last season.
Manchester City manager http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Mancini-c23323 made it clear to Adebayor that he did not have a place for him in the squad this season, which is why Adebayor transferred to Tottenham Hotspur on a season long loan. So far he has been in terrific form at White Hart
Lane, scoring three goals in three appearances in the Premier League.
The Tottenham Hotspur boss revealed he was certain Adebayor was up for the challenge when Arsenal visited over the weekend. He was aware it was difficult for a player to play against his former side, but said he was confident the Togolese forward could put
up with the pressure.
Redknapp said in an interview:
“It is another great opportunity for Emmanuel Adebayor to play for Tottenham. He has been playing well for us, the crowd love him and he has been a big bonus for us so far. His performances have been fantastic. Let's hope he can keep that up.”
Having already earned the support of the Tottenham Hotspur, which was believed to be the toughest challenge after he joined the London side, Adebayor seems to be off on a flying start with the Spurs. Redknapp felt the striker had another chance to prove
to the Tottenham Hotspur supporters of his commitment to the club.
After their poor start to the season, Arsenal are thought to be no longer in contention for any silverware. However, Redknapp said it was not wise to write off the Gunners and that he expected them to make a comeback sooner or later in the season.
He revealed:
“I would not write Arsenal off. If you write Arsenal off in your newspaper you could be made to eat all those words.
They are a good side with a great manager.”
With the Spurs set to feature in the UEFA Europa League tonight against Shamrock http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Rovers-c40385, Redknapp revealed he was focused on both the games. The English manager said he was not expecting an easy match in the second tier European competition, but at the same
time was focused on the London derby on the weekend.
Redknapp said:
“I have got two eyes on the derby. I'm not putting my first team out tomorrow but it'll be a team with some good, experienced players that will contain probably seven or eight full internationals.”
