Tottenham Hotspur assistant coach Joe Jordan confirmed that the club were not willing to sell Gareth Bale, who has attracted interest from the likes of http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Luka-Modric-c22857 proved they were
no pushovers.
After a terrific performance in the UEFA Champions League last season, the 22-year-old Welshman has attracted interest from Europe’s elite. Barcelona even went as far as to claim they would pay as much as was necessary to acquire the services of Bale.
However, Jordan claimed that the Spurs were willing to resist as they had done earlier on in the summer with London rivals http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Croatia-c2879 international, but Tottenham Hotspur did not let the
playmaker leave for Stamford Bridge.
Jordan said in an interview:
“The stance with Modric was that we would not be forced into selling him and that was proved.
I believe we can keep Bale. It's great when the best team in the world is talking about one of our players. I don't see why it would cause us a problem.”
Jordan felt the episode with Modric over the summer transfer window more than proved that Tottenham Hotspur were more than capable of retaining players. He felt they could retain Bale, despite the fact that Barcelona were keen on signing him.
The Spurs assistant coach believed it was important to retain key players and bring in fresh talent to ensure the growth of the squad. Tottenham Hotspur brought in http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Emmanuel-Adebayor-c12526 and Scott Parker in the summer with an eye to qualify for the Champions
League next season.
He revealed:
“We are demonstrating that we have a chance of fulfilling the ambitions of individual players, which is to get in the Champions League.
The fans love it and I love it, but more than anything the players want to play at the top level, facing sides like Real Madrid, AC Milan.”
He was confident his side had the capacity to not only qualify for the European competition, but also compete with the likes of Real Madrid, AC Milan and Barcelona. To achieve that aim, the retention of players like Gareth Bale and Luka Modric is essential
and the Spurs are well aware of that.
