Even though Redknapp insisted he did not wish for Modric to leave, since he had been in exceptional form for the club last season. He was consistent throughout the season, making a total of 42 appearances in all competitions and scoring 4 goals. Not typically
a goal scoring midfielder, Modric’s efforts and contributions were vital for the Spurs as they finished fifth on the Premier League table.
Despite the fact that Modric missed out on the first leg of UEFA Europa League play-off against Scottish side Hearts, the Spurs assistant coach was certain Modric would be continuing on with the London side in the new season. He was confident that the Croatian
midfielder was settle down once the summer transfer window had closed down.
Bond said in an interview:
“The chairman has made it quite clear that Luka will not be leaving the club and I don't see that changing at all.
He has said categorically that he will stay at the club and I think that's what will happen.”
