Tottenham Hotspur manager Harry Redknapp admitted he was interested in London rivals Chelsea’s striker Nicolas Anelka. However, he revealed he had not yet made enquiries about the 32-year-old former http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/France-c2899 international as yet.
Redknapp said in an interview:
“I have always liked him.”
With the January transfer window fast approaching and Anelka set to be out of contract at the end of the season, there are rumours that the Frenchman may be heading towards a Stamford Bridge exit. While he has denied rumours, it looks to be the case.
So far, not may sides have made their interest clear and Redknapp is certainly amongst the first to do so. The English manager revealed he was a huge fan of the former Bolton Wanderers man and would in fact be interested in signing him.
He revealed:
“I think he is a fantastic goal-scorer but he is not a player who I have made any enquiries about or mentioned to the chairman.”
However, he revealed he had not yet made an inquiry about the player and would go on to wait and see how the issue played out. Redknapp did admit though that he was looking to add another player to his squad in the winter transfer window.
Redknapp continued:
“Having said that, I wouldn't stand here and say, 'No. Never', because if I did sign him you would say, 'What a lying git'. It's not a bad shout. He's a good player.”
