Tottenham Hotspur manager Harry Redknapp has revealed that defender http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Ledley-King-c21859 is out injured with a hamstring injury.
The last time King featured for the Spurs this season was in the 1-1 draw against London rivals http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Chelsea-c38786 in December. Since then he has failed to return to full fitness because of a chronic knee trouble and with the recent injury could go on to miss most
of the remainder of the season.
While he managed to play just nine games last season, King was expected to make at least 20 appearances in the Premier League. It was only after he met this condition that he was supposed to get a contract extension until the next season.
The 31-year-old was expected to return to training for the upcoming fixture against http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Everton-c39043 on Wednesday, but seemed to have sustained a hamstring injury. Redknapp admitted he feared the defender had picked up a hamstring injury.
Redknapp said in an interview:
“Ledley did his hamstring on Friday.
He had a little jog and tore his hamstring, we think. He has gone for a scan. We don't have the results yet but he only went for a little easy jog and his hamstring went.”
With the Spurs waiting on results from King’s scans on his hamstring, Redknapp will be a little short on options on whom to select for the clash against the Toffees. He admitted he was a little short on defenders, hinting that he could go shopping in the
January transfer window.
He continued:
“I have not got many options.
I only have Dawson, Bassong and Kaboul. No-one else.”
The English manager had previously claimed that Tottenham Hotspur were satisfied with the existing squad and believed the quality would allow them to finish in the top four on the Premier League table. However, the recent injury might have changed his mind.
Redknapp was initially interested in Bolton Wanderers defender http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/England-c749 international is expected to join the Blues soon and it is not yet certain if Redknapp has any other defender
identified as a possible target.
