Tottenham Hotspur boss Harry Redknapp confirms http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Ledley-King-c21859’s injury not serious
Tottenham Hotspur manager Harry Redknapp revealed he was certain central defender Ledley King would return for the London side sooner than later. The http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/England-c749 international was sidelined after picking up an injury, which after tests turned out to be a minor
muscle tear.
The 31-year-old King sustained the grade one abductor tear during the 2-2 draw against Newcastle United last weekend. It was initially thought the injury was a long-term one as King was replaced before half time by Sebastien Bassong in the centre of defence.
While Redknapp was visible worried about the English defender right after the game, even claiming he was uncertain about how long King would be unavailable for, he is pleased that the injury sustained is not long term.
Redknapp said while speaking to reporters:
“Ledley has had a scan. He has a slight tear in his abductor. It's not too bad.
It's only a grade one tear, which is not so bad, so it shouldn't be too long.”
Despite the injury being a minor one, it is still not certain when King will be available for selection. This leaves Redknapp with a selection headache when it comes to defence. The Spurs boss admitted he had an injury problem, hinting he could be spending
on defenders in the upcoming January transfer window.
He admitted:
“Central defence is a big problem for us. We are really down to two central defenders.”
The likes of Bolton Wanderers defender http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Rio-Ferdinand-c31173 have already been linked with a move to White Hart Lane. Redknapp initially denied the rumours, but is now reportedly on the look-out for defenders as a long term solution
to the unavailability to defenders due to injury and suspension.
Redknapp continued:
“The problem is that we have no one who will be back fit at the weekend so if one of them gets a knock on Thursday, we will be bang in trouble for Sunday's game against Blackburn.”
Redknapp said that while he had quality defenders, he had no one to replace them with in case of injury, which is why he is most likely considering spending in the winter transfer window. The Spurs are currently preparing for their trip to Ewood Park to
take on Blackburn http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Rovers-c40385 over the weekend.
