Tottenham Hotspur manager Harry Redknapp has revealed he is not looking to make a move for James Forrest, the 20-year-old Celtic FC winger, in the January transfer window.
It was reported the Spurs had sent scouts to watch Forrest in Celtic’s 2-0 victory over St Mirren over the weekend. This fuelled speculation of the London side making a bid for the youngster before the winter transfer window closed next week.
While Redknapp admitted he thought Forrest was a top player, he revealed he was not interested in bringing him to White Hart Lane. The English manager claimed his side were in no need of reinforcements, which is why he was not looking to buy Forrest.
Redknapp said in an interview:
“He's a good player. We've not made any bids. If we did I would speak to Neil Lennon.
He's a player we have watched but he belongs to Celtic.
At the moment we're not in the market to really do anything. We're looking at a few options but nothing definite.”
While Tottenham Hotspur are not lacking in midfield or the wingers department, they look like they could use reinforcements after their loss to Manchester City over the weekend. The Spurs went on to lose 3-2 to the Citizens in a match they had described
as must win.
With http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Gareth-Bale-c14422 on the wings, Tottenham Hotspur were fighting until the very end. Unfortunately they were unable to secure even a single point, which means they could in fact be in need of some new faces.
The Spurs have decent players amongst their substitutes but the problem is none of them are youngsters. The likes of http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Niko-Kranjcar-c27926 are all above 25 years old and might not be able to give the same performance a young player could offer.
So far Redknapp remains in denial of the apparent offer for Forrest, but it is a possibility the English manager could reconsider and make a bid for the 20-year-old before the winter transfer window closes next week. The player himself is yet to comment
on the new developments.
