Tottenham Hotspur boss Harry Redknapp dismisses Bolton Wanderers defender Gary Cahill link

Harry Redknapp, the Tottenham Hotspur manager, revealed he was not looking to buy players in the upcoming January transfer window. The Spurs have been linked heavily with Bolton Wanderers defender http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Gary-Cahill-c14439, but according to Redknapp, he was not interested
in adding to his squad in the winter transfer window.
The kind of players Redknapp signed in the summer transfer window proves that the English manager is pleased with his existing squad. The likes of http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Brad-Friedel-c7953, Scott Parker and Emmanuel Adebayor were just brought in to add to the already strong team.
Redknapp confirmed in an interview:
“I was initially concerned about injuries to some of our defenders, which left us light on the ground. But with William Gallas and http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Ledley-King-c21859 returning, those concerns have subsided.”
The only way Redknapp revealed he would sign another defensive player in the winter transfer window would be if any of his existing players picked up injuries. Previously, his side had been linked with Cahill because of injuries to http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/William-Gallas-c36874 and Ledley
King.
He admitted:
"There is absolutely no point in going out and signing players if they can't improve the team. And, as it is, I have enough strength in depth in my squad."
However, both players have recovered since then and Redknapp does not feel there is a need for him to bring further reinforcements in January. He admitted the thought had crossed his mind but it was not something he was seriously considering at this point
in time.
With the likes of http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Jermain-Defoe-c18359 in top form, Redknapp was confident his side had a fair chance of claiming the Premier League title this season. He did however think it was necessary for the leaders to take
a dip in form for his side to emerge the victors.
Redknapp revealed:
“This is the strongest squad I've had under my control and we're not just looking at challenging for the top four, why shouldn't we consider being title contenders?
It's a tough ask, with the likes of Manchester City and United, but if they slip up, we're capable of taking advantage."
