Tottenham Hotspur boss Harry Redknapp happy with http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Jermain-Defoe-c18359’s improvement
Tottenham Hotspur manager Harry Redknapp said he was pleased with the arrival of Manchester City striker Emmanuel Adebayor at White Hart Lane on a season long move. Not only has the http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Togo-c3022 international had a brilliant start at the London club, he has struck a brilliant striking partnership with English striker Jermain Defoe, with the pair having already scored three goals each.
Adebayor scored on his debut for Tottenham Hotspur at Wolverhampton Wanderers and then went on to score a brace in his first game at White Hart Lane against http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Arsenal-c38429 player.
It was feared that the Togolese striker would have a tough time winning over the Tottenham Hotspur supporters since he had previously played for London rivals Arsenal and had scored the winning goals against the Spurs in the UEFA Champions League while on loan to Real Madrid. However, he has done well at White Hart Lane, along with improving Defoe’s performance.
Redknapp said while speaking to reporters:
“He couldn't have had a better start for us. If he has a great season he can take us to where we want to be.
He is a really good player. There is no doubting his ability and Jermain Defoe has linked up well with him.”
The Spurs’ manager admitted Defoe had not been in the best of forms last season, but felt the 28-year-old had improved over the summer. Defoe made just 30 appearances last season and managed to score nine goals in all competitions, which failed to help towards the Spurs’ securing a place in the top four of the English Premier League and thus losing out on the Champions League spot this season.
Redknapp said Defoe had been putting in a strenuous amount of effort in his training and had been to http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/France-c2899 to work on his fitness. All the hard work seems to have paid off and Defoe seems to have regained his place in the Tottenham Hotspur first squad. The manager revealed he was a huge fan of Defoe and hoped this season would be better for him than the last campaign.
Redknapp said:
“I am a big fan of his but last year he had a stop-start season.
In the summer he went to France to work with a fitness coach and spent a large part of the summer working with this guy one on one doing three sessions a day - one early in the morning, one in the afternoon and another in the evening.”
