Tottenham Hotspur boss Harry Redknapp predicts Chelsea striker Didier Drogba’s departure

The 32-year-old Ivory Coast international has taken second place to Torres in the pecking order at Stamford Bridge, ever since the Spaniard's arrival in the January transfer window.
Torres signed for http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Chelsea-c38786 on the deadline day of the January transfer window for a record breaking fee of £50 million. However, the dream move to the London club soon turned into a nightmare for the striker who is yet to score his first goal for Chelsea.
His main reason for leaving Anfield was the lack of ambition and participation in the Champions League.
It is somewhat ironic that Chelsea were eliminated from the Champions League just last night by Premier League leaders Manchester United. Torres was once again picked ahead of Drogba, but failed to make an impact. It was the Ivorian who eventually found
the back of the net for the Blues to equalize the score and give his side some hope. Despite Drogba’s best efforts though, he could not stop the Red Devils from scoring two goals and the match ended 2-1.
Tottenham Hotspur boss Harry Redknapp revealed he believed that even with Drogba’s ability to change the game, he was most likely to be sold in the upcoming transfer window. The Spurs boss said the Blues had spent too much on Torres to pick Drogba over him.
Redknapp said while speaking to reporters, “I don't see Didier Drogba being at Chelsea next season. It just hasn't worked with Torres, having them both there. I can't see that one working and that's why I think one of them will go in the summer and it won't
be Fernando Torres, I'm certain Didier Drogba will leave.”
Even if the £50 million spent on Torres is not considered, the Spain international is only 27 years old while Drogba is 32 and nearing the end of his career. He has been at Stamford Bridge since 2004 - the Jose Mourinho era - and some would say he has outstayed
his welcome. The striker undoubtedly still has some more years in him but it seems unlikely he will spend them at Stamford Bridge.
Drogba signed for Chelsea in 2004 from Ligue 1 side Marseille for a fee of £24 million and quickly established himself as their first choice striker. Into his seventh season with Chelsea, he has made a total of 300 appearances in all competitions and has
scored an impressive 143 goals. The Blues hit-man has won the Golden Boot twice, once in 2007 and last season in 2010.
While Redknapp has a valid point, it would be disappointing for any Chelsea supporter to see Drogba leave. The Ivory Coast striker has on more than one occasion proved his worth for the club and has been essential in recent seasons for Chelsea’s success.
He has won every trophy with the Blues except for the UEFA Champions League and last night was probably his last chance.
