Tottenham Hotspur boss Harry Redknapp shocked by Manchester City striker http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Mancini-c23323
Tottenham Hotspur manager Harry Redknapp revealed he was appalled by Manchester City striker Carlos Tevez’s behaviour during the UEFA Champions League clash against Bayern Munich last night. According to Manchester City manager Roberto Mancini, the 27-year-old
http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Argentina-c2841 international refused to come off the bench during the match against the German side, which the Citizens went on to lose 2-0.
Even though Tevez has launched his defence, claiming no such incident took place, Redknapp said he was shocked by the striker’s attitude. The English manager will lead his side into a clash against Shamrock http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Rovers-c40385 in the UEFA Europa League clash tonight
and spoke about Tevez’s disobedience, which could very well earn him a suspension and/or a fine.
Redknapp said while speaking to reporters:
“It was unbelievable. I felt sorry for http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Roberto-c31294 Mancini to be put in that situation.
It's not fair. It wasn't right for Man City, wasn't right for football. I can't believe it. It shouldn't happen. It can't happen.”
Redknapp sympathised with Mancini, who had to deal with a player refusing to play during a fixture. The Spurs manager said he still had a hard time believing a player had refused to play in a Champions League game for no apparent reason. He felt it was extremely
unfair to a manager to have to deal with a player who would go on to do something that was so unthinkable.
It is no secret that Tevez is not on the best of terms with Roberto Mancini, with the Italian manager having reportedly not let the player leave the club in the summer transfer window. The Argentine forward was linked with a move to http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Corinthians-c38855, but the
move fell through at the last minute and Tevez had to remain at the Premier League side against his will.
Since then Mancini has picked the likes of http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Mario-Balotelli-c23937 ahead of Tevez, which has thought to upset Tevez further. His refusal to come on could very well have contributed to Manchester City’s first defeat of the season in
all competitions, with the Citizens previously seeming unbeatable. Redknapp revealed he felt Tevez’s contributions could have changed the result against Munich last night.
Redknapp said:
“He is a great player, no doubt, a fantastic footballer but it's a problem that Man City can deal with now.
Only they can decide whether he plays for them again. I thought the manager was fantastic after the game, the way he spoke. He didn't deserve that. He is a good manager. He is a good guy.”
Redknapp, having never been in such a situation himself, revealed he did not know what was to be done with Tevez for disobeying the manager. He felt the player was too good to be left with the reserves or on the bench for the remainder of the season, but
left the decision entirely up to Mancini. He hailed the Italian manager for handling the situation, especially his post-match comments while speaking to the media.
