Tottenham Hotspur boss Harry Redknapp’s striker troubles, Jermain Defoe and Roman Pavlyuchenko unhappy being left out
Tottenham Hotspur manager Harry Redknapp revealed it had not been easy leaving striker http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/England-c749 international had not been at his best. Redknapp hoped being left out of the first team would
give Defoe the right motivation to improve his form and earn a place in the starting line-up once again.
Redknapp said in an interview:
“I feel for Jermain at the moment. It's almost unfair that he's not in the team but there is nothing we can do about that.
He has been in magnificent form and he can't get in my team at the moment.”
There is no doubt that Defoe has improved greatly since last season, when he scored just four goals, but he is still not good enough for a regular spot in the team according to Redknapp. So far, the 29-year-old has found the back of the net five times in
seven starts, but unfortunately lost out his place to teammates http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Emmanuel-Adebayor-c12526 and Rafael van der Vaart, both of whom have been in a better form than him.
Redknapp admitted he realized it must be tough for Defoe to be left out despite being in a decent form but revealed he had no other choice since the rest of his striking options were currently doing better. Adebayor, the Manchester City striker who is on
loan to Tottenham Hotspur for the rest of the season, and former Real Madrid man Van der Vaart have proved to be highly effective.
He revealed:
“Jermain is a sensible lad. I am sure he will look at it and he will see how well Rafa is playing and Adebayor too.”
Redknapp continued:
“If you look at Rafa's goal-scoring record it's incredible. He is just a great finisher. He is cool in front of goal and when the chances come he makes it look so easy.”
Defoe is not the only striker who is having a tough time at White Hart Lane, similar to the English striker, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Russia-c2991 international has been unable to earn a place in the squad and is reportedly considering
leaving the club. Redknapp urged Pavlyuchenko to work hard and fight for his place in the starting line-up.
He admitted:
“Pav has to keep working hard and see what happens. It's up to the club.”
