Tottenham Hotspur coach Clive Allen claims Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger refused to shake his hand

Clive Allen, the Tottenham Hotspur coach, claimed http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Arsenal-c38429 manager Arsene Wenger had refused to shake his hand after the Spurs won 2-1 at White Hart Lane. Allen labeled the French manager a ‘two bob’ for refusing to shake his hand and later claiming that
he had not seen him.
The camera’s caught the two in what seemed like a confrontation, which had to be broken up by the police. Allen claimed the incident had taken place with Wenger refusing to shake his hand, but insisted there had been no foul verbal exchanges.
Allen said while speaking to reporters:
“He refused to shake my hand.
He says he didn't see me or hear me - but he's two bob he is, two bob.”
Wenger confirmed that while there had been no foul mouthed conversation between the two, he denied not shaking the Spurs coach’s hand. The Frenchman went on to point out that there was no rule that stated that he had to shake hands with the oppositions coaching
staff.
Wenger insisted:
“I shook the hand of the manager and the assistant manager.
How many hands do I have to shake? Is there a prescription?”
The Arsenal boss felt Allen had blown the incident out of proportion for his ten seconds of fame. Wenger was understandably upset after his side’s loss in the north London derby and can be excused for not remembering to shake hands with every member of the
Tottenham Hotspur coaching staff.
Harry Redknapp, the Tottenham Hotspur manager, did his best to play down the incident, claiming not to have noticed any rift between his coach and the Arsenal manager. Redknapp admitted that Allen was not happy with Wenger, but felt it was just a misunderstanding.
Redknapp said:
“Arsene shook hands with me and I'm pleased with that. I think Clive went to shake hands and he missed him. He didn't see him.
But if he's going to shake hands, either do it and mean it or don't do it at all.
If he doesn't want to, he shouldn't. Okay, Clive wasn't happy but Arsene shook my hand and, for me, that was it.”
