Tottenham Hotspur confirms Olympic Stadium interest
Tottenham Hotspur has confirmed the club is looking at the possibility of using the Olympic Stadium after the 2012 Olympic Games.
Spurs has had planning approval for a new ground approved by Haringey Council. However, the club could move to the Olympic stadium for a bigger capacity while the new stadium is constructed.
"I can also confirm we have registered an interest in the Olympic Stadium
site within the deadline of September 30, in conjunction with AEG (Europe), the world's largest entertainment and facilities management company," said Spurs chairman
Daniel Levy.
A bigger ground is crucial to the future development of Spurs. The club has huge aspirations and a bigger stadium would be a positive move for the club to make.
Big aspirations
Spurs secured Champions League football for the first time last season. The club sees Europe as a staple diet for what the club is trying to achieve over the next few seasons.
This proves ambition and desire.
The only way of making European football regularity is to move to a bigger ground. A bigger capacity would mean more money through gate receipts. This means a better chance
of attracting better players to the football club. Better players will increase Tottenham's support base and chances of winning silverware.
The Olympic stadium will have a reduced capacity after the Olympic games. However, this will still exceed the 36,310 capacity of White Hart Lane. The Olympic stadium will
also be much easier for a number of fans to get to and from.
"We have always maintained that we wouldn't undertake any project that could
undermine the overall financial stability and future success of the club and this shall remain our guiding principle going forward," added Levy.
Betting advice
Spurs is controlled by a sensible chairman with a big vision for the club. Back Spurs with confidence over the next few seasons. The club is developing and getting stronger and
is capable of beating any other side in any match. Spurs is a good bet to finish in the top four to six places this season.
