Tottenham Hotspur defender Assou-Ekotto certain top squad can qualify for Champions League
Tottenham Hotspur left-back Benoit Assou-Ekotto revealed he was confident the London side could go on to establish themselves as a top four side in the English Premier League. Having failed to qualify for the UEFA Champions League last season, the 27-year-old
was confident they would be able to make it through to the European competition this time around.
The Spurs have more than proved themselves after a slow start to the season, defeating the top teams to settle in the top four of the Premier League. They have managed nine wins in their last ten fixtures and are currently pressurizing the Manchester teams
for the top spots.
One of the key factors to their success this season has been the well balanced squad, with the likes of http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Aaron-Lennon-c3062 and Scott Parker proving to be the key players for the London side. The defender acknowledged the fact that the team had a lot
of bearing on the recent results.
Assou-Ekotto said while speaking to reporters:
“This is the best team since I have arrived here. We have done things as a team no other team has done in 10, 20 or 30 years.
And the level of the Premier League is always improving. When you have rich investors, you have got to have a good team and it raises the level. We have managed to do good things.”
According to the http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Cameroon-c2865 international, this was undoubtedly the best Tottenham Hotspur side in years, which was why he was confident they would succeed this season. While he admitted they were looking to win the Premier League, their main aim was to qualify
for the Champions League.
He continued:
“To say we have the best midfield might be a bit pretentious but I think we are the strongest in our attacking style.
Not many teams have really quick wingers like Aaron Lennon and Gareth Bale [and] a player like http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Luka-Modric-c22857 and a guy like Scott Parker, who runs for three men.”
