That appearance against the Rossoneri was a major step forward in the road to gain match fitness and eventually regular first team football but sadly for Woodgate that is not going to be the case.

After joining Newcastle United in 2003, Woodgate has been hampered with constant injury problems. Woodgate’s injury woes continued during his spell with Spanish giants Real Madrid from 2004 to 2006 as the player only featured in a handful of games.

Redknapp said, “It's not good news - a real blow to him and the club. He had been training well recently and I was hoping to feature him against Real next week. He'll still travel with us as part of the squad. Real is his old club and this match means so
much to him.”
Woodgate’s contract with Tottenham is due to expire at the end of the ongoing campaign. Given the player’s record with injuries a new deal is highly unlikely, however, manager Redknapp has expressed his desire to keep the player at White Hart Lane on a pay-as-you-play
basis.
There is some good news for Tottenham ahead of their clash with Real Madrid as midfielder http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Tom-Huddlestone-c35227 has recovered from injury and can feature in the Spurs team.
