Tottenham Hotspur manager Harry Redknapp confirmed that defender Michael Dawson was set to see a specialist regarding his Achilles injury sometime next week. It is feared that the 27-year-old http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/England-c749 international could require surgery, which could keep
him sidelined for an extended period of time.
Dawson has been out of action for the Spurs since late August, when he picked up the injury against Manchester City in the embarrassing 5-1 defeat. It was initially predicted that he would be out for two months and seemed to be on the way back when he began
training.
However, he was forced to return to light training and gym work after it was determined the injury could be serious than originally thought. It is because of that the Tottenham Hotspur medical staff has advised the player to consult with an expert before
taking further action.
Redknapp revealed the player was scheduled for a scan on his Achilles in midweek after which it would be determined which type of injury they were dealing with. He admitted Dawson was not currently happy with the way things were going.
Redknapp said in an interview:
“Michael is going for a scan on Wednesday on his Achilles and at the moment he's not feeling happy with it. It could be a long-term problem for him.”
Having started training sooner than he should have, Dawson showed signs of pain because of which he had to stop and refer with a specialist. The Spurs boss admitted he could not comment on the situation until he had any further news.
He revealed:
“Michael started to run but didn't feel good. He felt the same pain, had another scan and now has to go to specialist on Wednesday again to see why.
Until he sees the specialist we don't know if they want to operate on him, which we don't want.”
As for a possible operation, Redknapp revealed he hoped Dawson could manage without one since it would mean losing him for possibly the rest of the season. In that case he would be left with very little defensive options going into the second half of the
season.
Redknapp continued:
“An operation would be a long http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Job-c18684, we're hoping there is nothing there and it's part of what he'll feel from scar tissue or something. The last resort is an operation.”
