Tottenham Hotspur eye Barcelona’s http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Ibrahim-Afellay-c16547 as a replacement for Chelsea bound Luka Modric
Recent reports reveal English Premier League side Tottenham Hotspur are considering making a move for Barcelona winger Ibrahim Afellay. The 25-year-old winger who doubles as an attacking midfielder is being considered by Tottenham Hotspur boss Harry Redknapp
as a possible replacement for http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Luka-Modric-c22857, who has been heavily linked with a move to London rivals Chelsea.
The 25-year-old Croatian midfielder made it very clear he wished to transfer to Stamford Bridge, but has not yet handed in a transfer request. The Blues have so far made two bids for Modric, both of which were rejected by Redknapp. According to the manager,
his prized midfielder was worth much more than the Blues were willing to offer.
However, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Chelsea-c38786 continue on with their chase and it seems it will only be a matter of time before they land the versatile midfielder. It is expected the Blues will make yet another improved bid, possibly around £30 million, which would be acceptable to
the Spurs. With a month remaining before the transfer window closes, negotiations for Modric drag on.
While continuing on with his claim that Modric would not be leaving White Hart Lane, Redknapp has begun to look for possible replacements in midfield. The English manager is looking for a midfielder who has pace, offers width and provides assists. After
being linked with other players, Barcelona’s Afellay has emerged as a candidate.
Sources reveal Tottenham Hotspur have already sent a scout to watch the winger in action with Barcelona against http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Germany-c2904 where the match took place to observe the player and determine whether or not
the player would be suited at White Hart Lane. He apparently liked what he saw because it is rumoured that the Spurs will be making a bid for the winger soon.
Afellay joined Barcelona in the January transfer window of last season from Netherland outfit http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/PSV-c40281 Eindhoven for an estimated fee of €3 million. Shortly after he signed a contract extension, according to which he is contracted to the La Liga giants until
the end of 2015. He was mostly used as a substitute by http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Barcelona-c38604 boss Pep Guardiola, making 29 appearances in all competitions and scoring 2 goals.
