Tottenham Hotspur goalkeeper http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Heurelho-Gomes-c16173 linked with PSV Eindhoven return
According to the PSV Eindhoven sporting director http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Marcel-c23507 Brands, Heurelho Gomes, the Tottenham Hotspur goalkeeper, is reportedly considering making a move back to the Dutch side.
The 30-year-old stopper joined the Spurs in the summer of 2008 for an estimated fee of £7.8 million from http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/PSV-c40281 Eindhoven.
In his three seasons at White Hart Lane, Gomes made some 85 appearances in the English Premier League.
His form has suffered towards the end of the season, with some horrific displays in the Premier League, which have convinced the Brazilian to return to his former club.
Despite not having the best of starts when he first signed for the Dutch outfit in 2004 from Brazilian side http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Cruzeiro-c38870, he managed to establish himself as a first choice keeper.
From 2004 until the end of the 2007 season, Gomes made 127 appearances in the Eredivisie for PSV Eindhoven.
Tottenham Hotspur boss Harry Redknapp previously claimed he had no plans of replacing Gomes in the summer transfer window, but the Englishman is said to be reconsidering.
The likes of http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Brad-Friedel-c7953 are linked with a move to White Hart Lane, which means there will be no room for Gomes next season.
The http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Brazil-c2858 international is now reportedly considering the possibility of a return to Eindhoven, in the hopes of the first team football.
The PSV Eindhoven http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Sporting-89-c40576 director was confident the goalkeeper was considering a move back to the Eredivisie.
Brands said in a statement:
“He [Gomes] has let me know he is interested in a return to PSV.
I have let him know I will look at what we can do for each other.
His contract only has one year left to run. There is not much more to say at the moment.”
