Tottenham Hotspur looking to land Joe Cole from Liverpool
Tottenham Hotspur are reported to be on the verge of reviving their interest in Liverpool midfielder http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Chelsea-c38786 ended. However, the player opted
to make a move to Anfield as part of a free transfer at the start of the season, instead of moving to the White Hart Lane.
However, the player’s move to Liverpool has been nothing short of a disaster. The twenty nine year old agreed a deal to join the team in July 2010 and made his Premier League debut against http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Arsenal-Maseru-c38430 in August 2010. However, instead of getting things off to
a flying start, the player managed to pick up a red card in the first-half of the game and as a result, he had to pre-maturely end his first league game for the reds.
The player’s poor form continued as he managed to miss a penalty against http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Trabzonspor-c40759, but the Reds managed to win that game despite his miss. Cole has also managed to miss out on most of the season due to injuries and at the moment feels quite surplus to
requirements at Anfield. The player has managed to make a total of twenty eight appearances for the team, while picking up three goals along the way.
Either way, it seems like Harry Redknapp is rather keen to rekindle his relationship with Cole, after having managed him at West Ham. The manager is reported to bring in some experience to his Tottenham side and feels that Cole could be the ideal player
to do so. One of the other major factors for Redknapp wanting to land the player is because of the versatility that Cole has. The player can play in the midfield, on the wing and behind the striker, something that Tottenham could greatly benefit from.
At the moment, there is only one speed-bump in Tottenham’s way to landing the midfielder. Liverpool are set to demand a minimum of five million pounds for the player, which is a fee that Tottenham are just not ready to pay for Cole. However, Redknapp could
potentially use this opportunity to offer http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Liverpool-c39809 a player as part of a swap deal, in order for this move to benefit all the parties involved.
Should both the clubs come to a mutual agreement, there is then the question of Cole’s wages. The player is currently making a massive hundred thousand pounds a week at Anfield and Tottenham are more than likely to offer him a significant wage cut.
Nonetheless, according to most experts, Cole is going to be more than willing to take that pay-cut just to be able to play in the Premier League for as long as possible.
