Tottenham Hotspur manager Harry Redknapp admits goalkeeper Heurelho Gomes to leave in January

Tottenham Hotspur manager Harry Redknapp insisted http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Heurelho-Gomes-c16173, the 30-year-old Brazilian goalkeeper, had not be demoted to the third choice stopper at White Hart Lane. However, the English manager admitted Gomes was unhappy with the current states of
affairs and could be parting ways with the club in the January transfer window.
The Brazil international has had an uncertain career with the Spurs, since joining the club from PSV Eindhoven in the 2008-2009 season. In his three seasons at the club, Gomes has made 95 appearances in the English Premier League. Unfortunately for the former
http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/PSV-c40281 Eindhoven goalkeeper, he has been unable to maintain a spot in the first team because of which he was linked with a return to the Dutch outfit during the summer transfer window.
While Gomes ended up staying in the summer, he could be leaving in the winter transfer window since the http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Brad-Friedel-c7953 and Carlo Cudicini have been preferred over him in recent
times, with Gomes being given the first start of the season in the UEFA Europa League play-offs against Hearts earlier on.
Redknapp admitted:
“He's not happy and he's eyeing a January move. If the chance comes for him to play elsewhere, I'm sure he'll take it.”
Redknapp was aware that the player was not happy at being on the match week after week, because of which he was considering a move away in January. The Tottenham Hotspur boss said he was certain Gomes would leave if the right offer came along. However, he
insisted he had only unwillingly demoted the Brazilian because the other two goalkeepers had proved to be more effective.
Despite the big losses to Manchester United and Manchester City in the English Premier League, Redknapp felt his side would bounce back. He maintained faith in Friedel, who he did not think deserved to concede the goals against both the Manchester sides.
It remains to be seen whether Gomes will stay or leave, but with no objection from Redknapp, a move seems likely.
Redknapp said:
“I've not bombed out Gomes and made him number three keeper but we decided http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Carlo-Cudicini-c8340 would be better on the bench.
Gomes has trained hard but Friedel is fantastic. If ever there was a man who didn't deserve those two beatings by Manchester United and Manchester City, it was him.”
