Tottenham Hotspur manager Harry Redknapp has praised Real Madrid and their star winger Cristiano Ronaldo following his team’s defeat at the hands of the Spanish giants.
The Los Blancos beat Tottenham 4-0 in the first leg at Santiago Bernabeu and followed it up with a 1-0 win in the second leg at White Hart Lane on 13
April, 2011. Ronaldo scored the only goal of the return leg in London.
Redknapp has praised Ronaldo and believes that the player is in a class of his own. He added that Ronaldo and http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Lionel-Messi-c22296 are undoubtedly the two best players in the world and choosing the better of the two is very difficult. Ronaldo has scored 40 goals
in 45 appearances for the Los Blancos in the ongoing 2010-11 season.
The former Portsmouth manager added that he tried to sign http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Sami-Khedira-c32325 and Mesut Ozil in the summer transfer window of the 2010-11 season but Real Madrid snapped the duo. He lauded the German duo as the finest talent in the world.
Redknapp told reporters, “There are many contenders in this category. (Best rival player). But when you whittle it down you are left staring at the Real Madrid team sheet. The German midfielders Mesut Ozil, who I fancied at one stage and Sami Khedira, stand
out.”
He added, “But it’s the cheeky Portuguese fella who is at the top. Cristiano Ronaldo was quiet by his own standards at White Hart Lane on Wednesday. But, if I may borrow a boxing phrase, pound for pound he is without doubt the best we came across during
our campaign.”
The 64-year-old added that on top of his playing abilities, Ronaldo is a wonderful person and honours his relations with everyone.
Redknapp added that Real Madrid have everything needed to win the UEFA Champions League in the ongoing season. He added that the Real Madrid-Barcelona semi-final will be an intriguing game between two of the best sides in the world.
Barcelona and Real Madrid will lock horns in four matches against each other in space of 18 days and all the matches promise to be nothing less than thrillers.
