Tottenham Hotspur manager Harry Redknapp denies England talks
Tottenham Hotspur manager Harry Redknapp, who is currently a candidate to become the next England national team manager, revealed he had not been in talks with the Football Association. After reports suggesting that current England manager http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Fabio-c13152 Capello
would be dismissed after England failed to register a win against Wales at the Wembley Stadium, the media has already started lining up possible replacements.
England went into the match against http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Wales-c3041 knowing that a win would guarantee them a spot in the 2012 Euro. However, they stumbled to a draw which means they are now just a point short of the requirement for qualification. This disappointing result has apparently
urged the FA to consider dismissing Capello before his planned retirement next summer.
Amongst the other candidates, Harry Redknapp is amongst the favourites. The former West Ham United boss has made no secret of his wish to someday manage the national team and could be giving up his place as manager of the London side to realise his dream.
Reports suggested that he had already been contacted by the FA over a possible job offer.
However, Redknapp insisted he had not been in contact with the FA even though he did admit to wanting to be England manager someday. He said he currently had no decisions to make since there were no offers on the table from the FA. The English manager claimed
to be happy with managing the Spurs and said he would consider the England job if it came along.
Redknapp said in an interview:
“Until I get offered the job, I wouldn't have a decision to make, but at the moment I haven't spoken to anybody about being England manager.”
With still a chance to qualify for the 2012 Euro, Redknapp was aware that Capello would retain his position as the England manager if he lead the team to victory. England currently need just a point for qualification, making a draw in their next fixture
more than sufficient. Redknapp claimed he wanted his country to do well, but was aware that meant Capello staying as England manager.
Redknapp revealed:
“I want to see England do well, I want Capello to get them to the Euros and I want them to win it.
And if they win it under Capello, I definitely won't get it.”
Despite wanting to someday manage the http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/England-c749 national team, Redknapp insisted he was current focused on managing Tottenham Hotspur. The Spurs have not had the best starts to the season, but managed a win in their last English Premier League fixture against
Wolverhampton Wanderers. They are preparing to take on http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Liverpool-c39809 at White Hart Lane this Sunday.
He continued:
“I love doing what I'm doing. I enjoy my http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Job-c18684 at Tottenham. I'm lucky to be managing a top club, a great club, and I love it.”
