Tottenham Hotspur manager Harry Redknapp furious at ill-disciplined http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Younes-Kaboul-c37543
Tottenham Hotspur manager Harry Redknapp is furious at Younes Kaboul after his challenge earned him a straight red card during the English Premier League clash with Newcastle United.
Spurs won the match convincingly by two goals to nil; however, they had to defend for the last 25 minutes with a man down.
The home side opened the scoring through http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Aaron-Lennon-c3062 in the 56th minute after the Englishman’s shot from just inside the box whistled past the Newcastle goalkeeper into the net.
http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Gareth-Bale-c14422 doubled the advantage in the 81st minute after making one of his trademark runs down the left flank before unleashing a thunderous shot that nestled into the bottom corner.
Redknapp was pleased with his side’s overall performance, but was annoyed with Younes’ sending off. The manager termed Kaboul’s challenge unnecessary and claimed that it put the team under undue pressure.
The straight red card implies that the defender will be suspended for Tottenham’s next 3 domestic fixtures.
Redknapp said, “We shouldn't have gone down to 10. It was stupid. It's a lack of discipline. He has got to learn. You are 1-0 up so why do you have to get involved in something like that? It's absolute nonsense and he has to learn.”
The win takes Spurs in 4th place, 1 above Chelsea FC in the Premier League standings. The Blues are facing their worst run of form in the Premier League since 1998 and have not won a league match in their last 6 attempts.
However, Harry was quick to point out that the reigning champions must not be ruled out of the title race, despite their poor form.
He added, "I wouldn't write http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Chelsea-c38786 off from winning the league. They have winners and character. Their manager is fantastic. He won them the double. They have just had a bad run. Key players are coming back for them now. When
Frank and Essien are back fit you will see a different Chelsea.”
He also commented that it will not be easy to retain the 4th spot at the end of the season.
He said, “It will be even tougher than last year because Man United are certainties to be there too and Arsenal and Man City have improved.”
The Lilywhites have scored 33 points off their 19 matches. Their next game is against fellow Londoners Fulham FC, on 1st
January at White Hart Lane, who are fighting for survival and are 8th in the table.
