Tottenham Hotspur manager Harry Redknapp keen to lead Spurs into UEFA Champions League
Tottenham Hotspur manager Harry Redknapp has expressed his desire to lead the Spurs into the UEFA Champions League for the second successive season and promised that his side would give it all in order to achieve the inevitable.
The former West Ham United boss was talking after the Spurs secured an important point in the North London derby against Arsenal. The match was played on Wednesday, April 20, 2011 at White Hart Lane and finished all square at 3-3.
Redknapp voiced his opinion upon the draw saying that ideally he would have liked his team to bag all the three points against the struggling title contenders but seemed relaxed even with a draw. He was of the view that the Spurs would fight until the very
end in order to make it to Europe’s most prestigious football competition.
He said, “I don’t know really, I don’t really care either,” Redknapp told reporters. “If we make it, we make it and if we don’t we will try again next year.”
The 64-year-old praised his team by mentioning that the Spurs have been phenomenal throughout the season and was impressed to see them going in the right direction. The former Portsmouth boss added that there is nothing to worry about so far, as there are
still six games remaining in the season and the Spurs are only two points adrift of fourth placed Manchester City.
The manager concluded by saying, “We want to do it, we will give it everything we have got. But if we don't we'll come back next year.”
Tottenham made their way back into the game after they found themselves trailing by a 3-1 margin. Thomas Huddlestone and Rafael van der Vaart scored the second and third goal respectively for the Spurs as the exhilarating derby ended on level terms.
Spurs are currently fifth in the League table with 54 points and are just two points short of the fourth placed Manchester City. The Spurs, in their attempt to qualify for the 2011-12 Champions League, are yet to face the likes of West Bromwich Albion, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Chelsea-c38786,
