Tottenham Hotspur manager Harry Redknapp looking re launch bid for Atletico Madrid striker Diego Forlan
Tottenham manager, Harry Redknapp seems to be on the verge of re-launching a new bid for Atletico Madrid striker, Diego Forlan, at the end of the season.
The Uruguayan goal scoring machine was linked with a move to the White Hart Lane in January, however, a move never really materialized and as a result, Tottenham’s attempts to secure the player’s transfer ended in vain.
Nonetheless, it seems like Harry Redknapp has not lost faith in his ability to land the player and feels that he might just be able to sign him this time around. The manager is currently in desperate need to improve his strike force and intends to do just
that with the signing of Forlan. Redknapp also seems to have made up his mind regarding http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Robbie-Keane-c31215, and feels that it would be better for both the players and the club if they parted ways.
On the other hand, Forlan who went on to re-claim the spot light after impressing in the FIFA World Cup 2010, seems the perfect replacement for the Russian.
However, one of the major concerns that have always prevented the move from going through is the fact that Atletico seem more than reluctant on letting the player leave. Nonetheless, considering the fact that the player is currently going through his worst
season with the Spanish out-fit after having joined them in 2007, perhaps this transfer can finally swing in Tottenham’s favour.
Also, Atletico getting rid of a 31-year-old striker, who probably just has a season or two left in him, for around ten million pounds, is actually a pretty smart deal. At the same time, the team could use the cash to re-invest in a much younger talent, who
could stay at the club for much longer. All in all, on paper it seems like letting Forlan join Tottenham might just be one of the smartest things for the Spanish club to do.
However, according to experts, Tottenham need to carefully assess the situation before blindly trying to land the player. Forlan previously played in the Premier League for Manchester United from 2001-2004, but never really managed to make an impact on the
league and this leads us to believe that perhaps his style of play just isn’t suited for the Premier League.
Nonetheless Redknapp seems to be h**l-bent on signinig the player and it seems like he won’t let anything get in his way to landing the Uruguayan hit-man.
