Tottenham Hotspur manager Harry Redknapp pleased with new Sandro contract
Tottenham Hotspur manager Harry Redknapp insisted he had not been aware that midfielder Sandro had been offered a new contract by club chairman Daniel Levy. The news comes after the Brazilian’s comments about how he was angry at the club for not letting
him leave during the summer transfer window.
The 22-year-old signed with the London side in 2010 from http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Internacional-c39573, but after 19 appearances in the English Premier League and just one goal, Sandro was linked with a move away. However, the Spurs did not let Sandro leave and he was included in the 25-man
squad for the first half of the season.
It emerged that he had been offered a long-term contract extension by Levy, a five-year deal that the midfielder gladly signed. According to Redknapp, he was not aware of the deal and had heard it on the news along with everyone else.
Redknapp said while speaking to reporters:
“I was pleased to see that on Sky Sports News last night. It was good.
I never had a clue. I was pleased to see it but I didn't know anything about it.”
He admitted he was pleased with Sandro remaining at White Hart Lane and signing the new deal, hinting that the http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Brazil-c2858 international would have a chance at regular first team football this season. He admitted he was not involved in decision making at the
club, something he did not particularly mind.
Unlike most of the other managers who have the final say regarding signings and contracts, Redknapp revealed he had left such details to Levy. He maintained that the chairman had always been responsible for the signings in the summer transfer window and
the contract extensions, as had been the case this season.
Redknapp continued:
“I don't get involved in that really. The chairman deals with that.
Managers don't get involved any more in negotiations. It's been like that for years and years, which is fine.
I have enough on my plate worrying about picking teams and working with the players. http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Daniel-c9879 loves doing that so he gets on with that.”
