Tottenham Hotspur manager Harry Redknapp rallies his troops for the Premier League season run-in
Tottenham Hotspur manager Harry Redknapp has urged his players to ‘keep going’ and produce a strong finish to their Barclays Premier League campaign. The Spurs boss believes that his side has had a stellar season so far, but they can still make it better
by qualifying for the UEFA Champions League again.
Tottenham are currently in fifth place, one point behind Manchester City, having played a game more. If Spurs are to retain their Champions League status, they will have to somehow overtake the Sky Blues in their remaining four games of the season. It is
a difficult proposition, especially since Manchester City are showing a lot more strength in the run-in than they did last season.
The Sky Blues have a chance to go four points clear of Tottenham if they manage to win their next game against West Ham United in a few days time. Spurs manager Harry Redknapp admits that it will be very difficult for his side to catch up with City now,
but he has urged his players to give it their all until the final match of the campaign.
He told reporters, “It's going to be difficult, but we're still in there and it's still all to play for. We just have to keep going and finish as high as we can. If we finish in the top four again it would be fantastic. If not, we try again next season.
There are no easy games. I knew West Brom would be difficult and so it proved.”
The Spurs boss added, "But we pick ourselves up, we've a big game at http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Chelsea-c38786 next and we'll get ready for that.”
Even though Spurs might not make it into next season’s Champions League, Harry Redknapp said he was proud of his team's achievements this season.
Redknapp concluded, "It's been a great season, we've had an unbelievable run in the Champions League, and the football we've played has been right out of the top drawer. And it's not over yet."
Tottenham will face their next test in the Premier League against Chelsea on Saturday, 30th April.
