Tottenham Hotspur manager Harry Redknapp tips Jose Mourinho to replace Sir Alex Ferguson
Tottenham Hotspur manager Harry Redknapp is confident that the Real Madrid manager, Jose Mourinho will replace Sir Alex Ferguson when he calls time on his Manchester United career.
Redknapp’s Tottenham were thrashed 5-0 over the two-legs of the UEFA Champions League quarter-final by Real Madrid recently.
Mourinho had a very successful stint with Chelsea and he helped them win the Premier League title after 50 years. The Portuguese helped Porto win the UEFA Champions League in 2004 and won the treble with Inter Milan in the 2009-10 season.
Redknapp believes that Mourinho is the ideal candidate to take Ferguson’s job but he will have to wait for it.
Redknapp told reporters, “Of those (managers) I have faced this campaign there is one who stands head and shoulders above the others - Jose Mourinho. Some are calling the Real Madrid boss the Marmite manager - you either love him or hate him.”
“I am one of those who has nothing but admiration for the former Chelsea chief, who I think will end up managing Manchester United one day in the very distant future when Alex Ferguson calls time,” he added.
The 64-year-old added that Ferguson is showing no signs of retiring and he sees him getting younger day by day. He added that he is impressed with Ferguson’s enthusiasm and Mourinho might have to wait for long.
The Scot is in his 25th year with the Red Devils and his trophy-laden journey has helped United to win 11 Premier League titles, 5 FA Cups, 4 League Cups and 2 UEFA Champions League titles.
Redknapp believes that Mourinho has the right mentality to take the job because he has managed some of the biggest clubs in the world including http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Chelsea-c38786.
The former Portsmouth manager also believes that the Portuguese is flexible to the demands of modern game and knows how and when to switch the tactics depending on the opposition.
