Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Gareth Bale says his side can still play semi-final of Champions League
Tottenham Hotspur midfielder http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Gareth-Bale-c14422 is confident about his team’s chances of advancing to the semi-finals of the UEFA Champions League in the ongoing 2010-11 campaign.
The Spurs were thrashed 4-0 in the first leg of their UEFA Champions league quarter-final against Real Madrid at the Santiago Bernabeu on Tuesday evening. However, the Welshman is confident about his team that they can overcome the deficit in the second
leg at White Hart Lane on 13 April, 2011.
Tottenham, who have had a remarkable debut season, are on the brink of being knocked out of the competition following Tuesday’s defeat.
Bale almost lead his side to a remarkable comeback against http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Inter-c39567 Milan earlier in the tournament after Spurs found themselves trailing by 4-0 in the group stage fixture. The Welshman scored a brilliant second half hat-trick to help the game finish 4-3. The
21-year-old is hopeful of his team’s chances and believes that nothing is impossible in football.
“We have to play at our best, stop their best players and score goals at White Hart Lane. It's going to be a difficult task, everyone knows that, but I still think it's possible. We are not going to sit back and take another beating from them in the second
leg. Hopefully we will win and hopefully that win will be enough,” Bale said.
Tottenham are having a poor run of form of late and have not won a game since beating AC Milan in the round of 16 fixture of the UEFA Champions league.
Their Premier League form has also been poor and their chances of qualifying for the Champions League next season are also fading fast as they trail fourth-placed http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Chelsea-c38786 by five points. Bale has urged his teammates to get back to winning ways as soon as
possible.
He added, “We have to pick ourselves up for the rest of the season. We can still finish fourth or higher maybe. We have to keep going. We still have the second leg and the league. We are a young team that is learning, and I think we can definitely learn
from this.”
