Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Luka Modric has revealed he wants to make a move to London rivals Chelsea, after a £22 million bid by the Blues was rejected by Spurs boss Harry Redknapp.
According to Redknapp, the 25-year-old midfielder was not for sale and even he was to consider selling Modric, it would be more than the price offered by Chelsea.
Modric had previously stated that he would only accept an offer if Tottenham Hotspur allowed him to, he has since then changed his mind.
The midfielder, who emerged as the top target for top English Premier League sides such as Manchester United, Manchester City and http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Chelsea-c38786, is now determined on a move to Stamford Bridge.
Chelsea are currently without a manager, having sacked Carlo Ancelotti at the end of last season, they have not been able to find a suitable replacement as yet.
That has not stopped Modric from declaring his desire for a move to Chelsea, claiming he wanted to leave White Hart Lane but remain in London.
Modric said in an interview:
“If somebody comes to the club and the offer is good for me and acceptable to them, then I want to leave.
I want to leave Tottenham as http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Friends-football-club-c39381. I have enjoyed my time there, but now it is right for me to look at another club.”
Modric admitted he had not handed in a transfer request due to his respect for the club and the fans, whose support he valued greatly.
He revealed he had an informal agreement with the chairman of the club, according to which the club had agreed to consider offers by other clubs.
The http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Croatia-c2879 midfielder had decided on Chelsea because of their constant fight for the Premier League title and the UEFA Champions League trophy.
After a disappointing season Chelsea managed to secure a Champions League qualification, while Tottenham Hotspur finished fifth on the Premier League table, missing out on European football.
The Croatian midfielder said:
“Chelsea are a big club with an ambitious owner. They have great players and they have ambitions to fight for the title and win the Champions League.

I want to stay in London. I am very happy here and so are my family.”
He insisted he wished to leave Tottenham Hotspur on the best possible terms, which is why he had not handed in a transfer request.
Modric continued:
“I don't want to have an argument with Tottenham. The supporters have been very good to me and I have enjoyed my time playing for the club, but it is for football that players leave clubs and move.”
A move to Stamford Bridge now seems imminent; however, the Blues will have to increase their bid from the £22 million originally offered.
In the wake of Modric’s comments, Redknapp could accept a bid somewhere in the region of £30 million for the versatile midfielder.
