http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Arsenal-Maseru-c38430 and Tottenham Hotspur played a 3-3 draw in an English Premier League encounter at the White Hart Lane on Wednesday, 20th April, 2011.
Tottenham Hotspur midfielder, Rafael Van Der Vaart believes that his team could have beaten Arsenal after a remarkable comeback in the second half. Spurs fought back to draw 3-3 after going down 3-1 in the first half.
Van Der Vaart scored a brace in the game and his man of the match performance could have sealed all three points for the Lilywhites. The draw dents Arsenal’s title ambitions, as they failed to take advantage of United’s slip against Newcastle United recently
and still remain six points behind the league leaders. On the other hand, a win could have put Tottenham equal on points with fourth placed Manchester City, who now enjoy two-point lead over them.
The game was played at high intensity as both teams created several scoring opportunities throughout the game. The Dutchman praised the fans for lifting them in the second half.
Talking to the reporters, Van Der Vaart said, “I think it was a great game, the crowd was fantastic. We played a great game against one of the best teams in the league so we can be happy with 3-3. It was an open game and both teams wanted to win, and that’s
why there was lots of space. We had a few good chances in the second half, Modric in particular, so we could have won.”
The 28-year-old praised the Arsenal goalkeeper, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Luka-Modric-c22857 and Sandro to save his team’s
blushes.
The former Real Madrid star went onto praise his midfield partners, Luka Modric and http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Tom-Huddlestone-c35227, for having a huge impact in the game and believes that the latter was absolutely brilliant with his pin-point passing. According to Van der Vaart, the Spurs
outplayed Arsene Wenger’s men in the counter attacking game and the pace of their wing players really made the difference.
