Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Sandro revealed he felt the victory over http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Chelsea-c38786 would make it clear that his side were contenders for the English Premier League.
The Spurs will host their London rivals at White Hart Lane in midweek, on Thursday, in a crucial fixture for both sides. The Blues are currently two points behind Tottenham Hotspur, having played a game more, giving the home side an advantage.
With The Spurs at third place on the Premier League table, a win will see them retain their place while a loss will see them fall to fourth place. They will be more than aware of the fact that they need a win to stay on track with catching up with the Manchester
sides.
Manchester City are currently at top of the league, with Tottenham Hotspurs trailing seven points behind the league leaders. A win is crucial if they wish to remain in the title race and the Tottenham Hotspur is more than aware of that.
Sandro said while speaking to reporters:
“We can make a big statement by beating Chelsea. It will be a difficult game but we are at home and that helps us. Our support is very good there and that helps.
Winning would help us to believe we can win the title.
We can win it. Why not? Every single player in the squad is good, we are a strong team. Our bench is strong as well, very good. So if we win this game, the only way will be up for us.”
Sandro joined the Spurs in the summer transfer window of 2009 for an undisclosed fee and since then has been a somewhat permanent part of the Spurs squad. He picked up an injury at the start of the 2011-2012 season and had to wait until September to make
an appearance.
However, he has now returned and signed a five year contract extension to mark his return. So far he has made 10 appearances this season in all competitions but has not yet found the back of the net. The midfielder remains confident his side can defeat the
mighty Blues on Thursday.
