Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Van der Vaart out for the Blackpool clash
Tottenham Hotspur star man Rafael Van der Vaart has been ruled out with a calf injury from the Premier League clash against Blackpool at Bloomfield Road. The injury kept him out from the London club’s last League fixture against
Sunderland, which they eventually lost 2-1 at the Stadium of Light.
The play-maker didn’t fully recover for the AC Milan clash in the UEFA Champions League and was named in the starting line-up. But he was replaced by http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Luka-Modric-c22857 after lasting 65 minutes in the match.
Harry Redknapp confirmed the news and said that the Holland international is struggling with the injury which will prevent him from travelling with the team to Blackpool. Redknapp said that the Dutchman trained on Sunday and didn’t
feel good and is not fully fit to feature.
"He did his calf again in training yesterday (Sunday) so he's struggling. He's been having a problem with it. He missed a couple of games, came back and played in Milan. He got through 65 minutes there and then yesterday morning
he felt it again. It didn't feel good," said the Tottenham manager.
The Spurs manager admitted that Van der Vaart’s injury is a huge blow for him as he has been in stunning form this season after joining from Real Madrid in the summer. Redknapp hoped that the former Real Madrid player would not
be out for too long and would have a part to play in the London club’s UEFA Champions League campaign and the fight for the fourth spot.
"It's a blow because he's a fantastic player. When he plays, he's been great for us. We need him but we just can't seem to get that run of games out of him. But hopefully he won't be out too long. We've just got to wait and see
again,” said the former West Ham boss.
Rafael Van der Vaart has been a revelation this season for Tottenham after arriving from Madrid on the deadline day in the summer for 8 million pounds. The play-maker has already scored a stunning 13 goals this season and is the
club’s top goal scorer.
