Tottenham Hotspur manager Harry Redknapp claimed it was highly unlikely that the club chairman http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Luka-Modric-c22857 in the upcoming January transfer window.
Modric was heavily linked with a move to Chelsea in the summer transfer window, with the Blues making three bids for the Croatian playmaker. Unfortunately for them, all three bids were rejected by Tottenham Hotspur who claimed they did not want to part with
one of their best player.
This was despite the fact that the 26-year-old handed in a transfer request, Levy did not allow the player to leave White Hart Lane. It is expected that http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Chelsea-c38786 will return with a fresh offer for Modric in the January transfer window, which is why Redknapp
is warning them beforehand.
According to Redknapp, the club did not want to part with their best assets in the mid-season transfer window. In fact, they did not want to do anything that would weaken the squad and would work towards strengthening the existing team.
Even though the Chelsea manager Andre Villas-Boas claimed he did not wish to chase Modric further, it seems the Blues will have another go at the player. While he is not a goal scoring midfielder, he has amazing statistics for providing assists, something
the Blues are currently on the lookout for.
Since joining Tottenham Hotspur in 2008, Modric has scored a total of 14 goals and provided 24 assists in 132 appearances in all competitions. After he arrived from Dinamo Zagreb, Modric wasted no time in establishing himself in the first team.
Redknapp said while speaking to reporters:
“No way on earth will they be for sale - not a chance. I don't think the chairman would accept any offer.”
The same stands for Gareth Bale, who has been linked with the likes of http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Inter-c39567 Milan and AC Milan but Tottenham Hotspur, are not willing to part ways with him. Redknapp claimed the club was looking to go forward and
make an impact this season.
He continued:
“We are looking to keep pushing on as we've been on a great run and we are bang in there.”
