Tottenham Hotspur pair confident after Champions League performance
Tottenham duo Luka Modric and Peter Crouch expressed their confidence in the club's ability to make a serious challenge in this year's Champions League after their team overcame FC Twente on Wednesday.
The Londoners were awarded three penalty kicks during a lively encounter at White Hart Lane. Roman Pavlyuchenko scored two of them to follow up Rafael van der Vaart's second-half strike, while Gareth Bale
added a fourth goal to make the score line 4–1.
“We showed that the whole team deserves [other] teams to be scared of us and if we play like we did we don’t need to be scared of anyone in the Champions League,” Modric said after the game.
The Croatian playmaker, who turned in a relatively quiet performance in the game as van der Vaart stole most of the attention, added that his desire to play in the big games is being satisfied by Tottenham's
Champions League run.
“When I came here I joined Spurs to play big games, to play Champions League, to win trophies in England and I hope we are in the right way. You need to believe. If you don’t believe, you can never get
anything. This team is definitely starting to get that belief now.”
Hopes for Premier League form to return
Tottenham are now second in Group A on four points, tied with leaders Inter Milan.

On the English front though, with eight points from six games, Harry Redknapp's team have yet to produce two straight wins in the Premier League.
Crouch said that he hopes his team's European form will translate into a strong league run, beginning with Tottenham's fixture against Aston Villa on Saturday.
“We’ve got to kickstart our season in the Premier League,” he said. “We’ve done well in European competition but I think the manager has said before that our bread and butter is the Premier League and
we’ve got to make sure we have these nights again by trying to finish fourth."
