Tottenham Hotspur playmaker Rafael van der Vaart to return for Liverpool clash
Rafael van der Vaart, the 28-year-old Tottenham Hotspur playmaker, could be back sooner than expected after being sidelined with a injury. The former Real Madrid man was ruled out for up to six weeks following a hamstring injury during the 5-1 defeat to

The Dutchman not only missed out on international duty for the 2012 Euro qualifiers, but was also unable to feature for the Spurs last weekend. Tottenham Hotspur managed a 2-0 win over Wolverhampton Wanderers on Saturday, earning their first three points
of the season. However, he revealed he had made progress with his physiotherapy and was close to returning.
Van der Vaart said while speaking to reporters:
“I have been treated intensively by (physiotherapist) d**k van Toorn.
I was able to do proper turns again and regular sprints. Next weekend seems like no problem to me!”
Van der Vaart’s physiotherapist d**k van Toorn revealed he was somewhat surprised by how quickly the attacking midfielder had recovered. He revealed that even though the initial report had stated that the Holland international would be out for over a month,
he was certain Van der Vaart was fit to feature for the Spurs in their upcoming clash over the weekend.
Van Toorn said in an interview:
“In the hospital they said Rafa would be out for more than a month but he can play in next week's Tottenham match.
I will leave that decision up to the medical staff of Tottenham.”
However, the physiotherapist revealed the decision was not up to him and that Van der Vaart would have to get a clearance from the Tottenham Hotspur medical team before he could play. Van Toorn said the player had worked very hard on his recovery, which
showed his dedication to his team and his desire to play. Van der Vaart arrived at White Hart Lane in the summer of 2010 from La Liga side, Real Madrid.
